Koon is a Director of Koon Tak Hong Consulting Private Limited (UEN: 202412624K), a consultancy firm incorporated in Singapore. He is a legally trained chartered surveyor with background in both quantity surveying and construction law. He acted as lead counsel in arbitrations representing main contractor and subcontractor. Under these arbitral proceedings, he was responsible for drafting of pleadings and submissions, managing interlocutory applications as well as cross examination of witnesses during hearing. 

Koon was awarded ASEAN Scholarship as well as Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Scholarship for his tertiary education in Singapore. In recognition of his academic excellence in the field of arbitration, he was presented with the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators (SIArb) Gold Medal. He holds B Sc (Building) (Hons) from NUS and Masters in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution (Merit) jointly awarded by King’s College London and NUS.

Koon was on the panel of accredited assessors for Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) interviewing applicants for Assessment of Professional Competence (APC). He has over two decades of regional experience in respect of commercial management, project controls, procurement and contract administration for building construction, internal fit out works and infrastructure projects.
